  • Proud Of My Handiwork

I just did a few projects recently and was thinking of all the cool stuff we do that gets under appreciated. So Here are a few of mine, please post some of your handiwork too!
    1) Getting ready to install Prius electric power steering. The steering box that I plan to uses has a 'double d' end that I have to join. So I took a 5 dollar sleeve, cut two notches, welded in two small pieces, then tapped for set screws. No I can weld this adapter to my steering shaft.
    2) I lost a clamp and bushing on one end of my 1" aftermarket sway bar. To replace it would cost almost 50.00. (they come is sets of 2 and shipping) Thirteen bucks got me two oversized bushings at my local NAPA. An hour in my shop with vice, hammer, bench & ankle grinder, drill press got me a duplicate clamp.
    3) Steering wheel. The previous owner of my car had removed all emblems, logos, badges, etc... This is my finished steering wheel with Hawk badge. Original wheel with bakelite removed, Zebra wood added.
Lets see some of the stuff you are proud of...

Proud is a feeling towards others I reckon, so I'm just satisfied with having a 53-54 hood on a Ultra Vista -55:

Ah, just came to think of a solution (among others) I'm pretty proud of; having automatic trans & using the old stick on the column wasn't as tight as when I bought a pure Hurst shaft without any of the linkage parts, made my own pieces & a rod to the lever on the trans:

Rafe, please take LOTS of pictures of the Prius steering setup, I want to do that on my 59 lark and need photos (or video) to help me understand it better. Thanks!
