  • 57' Golden Hawk trim question

I have seen different Golden Hawks for sale. Some have 3 pieces of trim on each side of the front grill area where the recesses are. Was this an option or should all Golden Hawks have them?

56 did not, 57 and 58 should all have the 3 pieces of trim unless they have been modified. Also 57 had parking lights moved forward from 56 and 58 parking lights had attached wings on the parking lights

Chamois those trim pieces is fun(?)

I think haroldr is referring to the three stainless steel trim pieces in each side grille. In that case ONLY the '57 Golden Hawk had them. In '58 the side grilles had a "grid/mesh" insert similar to the main grille. So, there would have been no room for the stainless steel trim pieces.

Below are frontal pictures of '56, '57, & '58 Golden Hawks (in that order).

Dwight you correct. I forgot about the side grilles on the 58. IMHO, I have not been a fan of the side grilles except on the 63 and 64 GT Hawk.

Chuckle. And the '63 and '64 side grills are the ones I hate! But my/the '62 GT is my favorite Hawk.

I'll vote for the side grilles on the 1956-62 Hawks also, especially the '56 & '62. But, Studebaker had to change something to "refresh" the styling. Usually, throughout the industry, those facelifts are not for the better (with a couple rare exceptions, like the 1951 Frazer).
