  • Faux Airplanes and Paul's 1951 Studebaker Commander 4-Door Sedan.

Here's a little visual history of our own family's 1950 Studebaker Champion - footage included.
And a little more history on how Mr. Bob Bourke modelled the "bullet nose" directly from the P 38 !

    Hope you enjoy this.

Just one little detail - the car is a ‘51 Commander, not a ‘50 Champion.

Nice story and a very nice color video. I've never seen a 1950 Crestliner and my parents owned a 51 "shoebox" too. Thanks for posting that.

Thanks... the video is from old 16 mm kodac film converted to digital and the color comes through very well. Gratias

This link from UMICH is Very interesting.
An interview primary source filled with real personalities.
        I note that Bourke said
"I had made some sketches for the car. The front end of the car - you can see in the 1940 models and after, I was putting spinners on stuff because of the aircraft. I was a spinner freak." -
confirms the secondary sources I was using, but he comes across as so much wide angle.
        Thanks again.
