  • 1899 Atlas map shows an area called Studebaker in Los Angeles County.

This must have been where Studebaker Road used to go.

Appears to be the neighborhood now called Hollydale, between Downey and Compton.

Hollydale is part of South Gate. The Studebaker on that map is in Norwalk. Studebaker Rd. runs from North of Imperial Highway down to North Long Beach.

The "Newer" Glenn M. Anderson Fwy. I-105 goes from Sepulveda SR-1 & Century Blvd. at LAX, and ends AT Studebaker Road in Norwalk, just past the I-605 San Gabriel River Fwy.

Construction of the I-105 took out the Wilson's, "Beach Boy's" original Homestead in Hawthorne, so a Monument to them and it, was built nearby next to the Freeway.

Glenn was a good friend of my Dad's and our Family since the 1920's.
Glenn was a U.S. House of Representatives Member from Hawthorne, Calif. who pushed very hard for Federal funding to illuminate the Traffic congestion on Century Blvd.

Some I thought interesting, informative Historical "String Drift" information, Sorry!

In 1961 my little '50 Champion dropped dead at the intersection of Studebaker Road and Imperial Highway. Got pushed in the parking lot of an auto parts store (Pep Boys I think). Came back on payday, bought battery, generator, and regulator. Installed in parking lot, and good to go again!
