  • Question on Egbert's R# Avanti

I saw from a link that the previous owner stated this about Egbert's R3 Avanti:

quote:Some items such as light switch bezels and metal fresh air grills never made it to market.
Does anyone have a picture of the switches with bezels?

Also, are the floor vent grills a somewhat generic item from a parts bin? Any one able to make a visual identification of one that is similar or the same?

Looking at the photo of the interior, I can see the stock location of the ventilation and heater valve switches, as well as the dash. I would presume that the switches are the same as the stock Avanti, which were the Lark style switches mounted in the console overhead in the center behind the windshield .

      Gene,
The vents appear to be similar to the prod 64 but the prod models were chromed plastic not steel. That chrome strip going toward the vent appears to be a 63 left over or flat prototype.

The guy that just sold this car (Egbert's 1964 R3 Avanti Protptype) Gary Hess, told me those fresh ait vents were hand made for the 1964 prototype and rather crude on the back.
