Okay - so 9 out of 47 wore South Bend clothing, but underneath they were all powered by Bowties, right?

Even if they are Chevy motors, I doubt there are very many chevy parts in them. Same with the rest of the car, all custom race stuff.

I understand they are reaching speeds close to 180 MPH these days. If true, these drivers must have nerves of steel on those curvy mountain roads.

There are different classes Chris, some big differences from quite stock to nascar styled cars.

The 2nd place must be a 1954 Commander, not a 1964 Commander, as the car number is #115, it falls into the 1940-1954 model year, Major Tourism class.

If it is a 1964, I can not find any details, and it does not make sense according to the regulations.

Felix It's a '54 Commander. It's a great looking car! The Groups car driven by Gabriel Perez and Angelica Fuentes only drove the Porsche because their '53 Champion wasn't ready this year but they have my favorite '53/54 in existence. it's stunning!

here is a picture of Laura's '54 that was in question. Click image for larger version

And seriously, who cares what powers them when they are presenting the Studebaker brand???? I know Angie's car is Ford powered, but whatever shows Stude beating a modern Porsche I'm on board with :-)

That's what I was reading, but I can't be sure of anything theses days. Something, like the official race results, on the official website, should be accurate. Just a slip of the finger.

Yeah, for sure. i talk to Laura on occasion and have become friends with Angie. They are super friendly and are so proud to represent the Studebaker brand. Angie said that even though they finished 4th in the Porsche this year, she really missed the Studebaker and would have rather been in that car. Angie has told me that if you hope to win La Carrera, really the only car of choice is a Studebaker.

And the Studebakers look so sleek and graceful. Does it seem that more of them are joining this race over time?
