  • Hagerty insurance claims questions

I F'd up this morning and banged up the front corner of the Avanti this morning. It's not too bad, ground away some fiberglass, cracked a few seams and of course, damaged the paint. If it were my regular insurance on my DD, I'd suck it up and pay for it out of pocket. My driving record is clean and I don't have any claims on anything with any insurance company in at least 3 years, probably more like 10.
But I'd like to know other's experiences with Hagerty's, primarily how it impacted your premiums and renewal so I can decide to suck it up, or make a claim.

I would file the claim. Your paying for the insurance. I have Hagerty, never a claim yet, but would certainly file. They are suppose to be among the best.

That is huge!............no premium increase despite a payout of tens of thousands of dollars, amazing.

How times change....................back in 1968 a fellow in a station-wagon in Hollywood Florida smashed into my Avanti.............back then there was no compulsory insurance in the state of Florida. The crash took out the front header and radiator...........they wanted to total the car, only after a well meaning independent adjuster came to my aid did the insurance pay for the repair as they were told that the Avanti is a classic auto! Hopefully you will straighten out this malady and return the Avanti to pristine condition:-)

I wouldn't hesitate to file a claim with Hagerty's. 5 years ago a (former) employee dropped a sizable chunk of 304 stainless on the front passenger fender of my '63 Avanti that was in the warehouse under a car cover. They knew what they did because I had previously warned them to NOT go anywhere near where the car was parked. It most likely happened about a month before I discovered it when I pulled back the car cover. I turned in the claim, the car came back looking better than it had previous to the "accident", and there was no increase to my premium. I have no complaints with Hagerty and I've had coverage through them for the 8 years I've owned the Avanti.

I have filed two claims with Hagerty. They used independent claims adjusters, who were car guys. They were not what we come to expect from an adjuster, they were more like an advocate. They looked and made comments, but only offered suggestions regarding repair facilities. They let me make my own choice regarding repairs. Was I lucky?-I really don't know. Report it and have them give it a look. Whatever you choose to do your premiums should not go up, and I don't know what it would take to be cancelled.

Sorry you have to go through this, but that's why we have insurance.

Had a hit and run on 73 Avanti II that caused considerable damage. Hagerty was great to work with and had no problem getting it all put back together. File the claim.

That was also my experience and for some additional work I had done on the Avanti, I paid for that and it was reasonable.
Ron, Let us know how it all works out.

It went smooth and easy, and I was renewed at teh same premium. Damage was a little over $4000, so that helped, I'm sure
