    Good Morning, Can someone explain the sweepstakes writing on the valve covers of the 289 V-8 ? Thanks !

    Look on page 9 of Studebaker International's catalog. They are pictured and the relevant years given.

      If you don't have the catalogue it says: 1956 President and Sky Hawk. 1957-58 President and Golden Hawk.

        Click on Catalog and then Decals. A PDF file will download onto your computer. Open that and there are nice illustrations.

        I notice, for the Sweepstakes 259, they state "for 1956 Commander & Power Hawk, and 1957-58 Commander and Silver Hawk."
        Isn't that incorrect? 1957-58 Silver Hawks had 289 engines (not counting export).

            Were you asking to have it explained Why they say that? If so, it's easy, that is the NAME of the Engine, like the Econo-Miser" Six !
