    I think there is something you guys are forgetting! [:0]

    If you build a true VINTAGE ROD, it is supposed to be a re-creation of something that COULD have happened in the day! [^]

    The biggest days for those early rods (model A, T bucket) of course were the late forties, early fifties. And what ENGINES could you get if you wanted a cool looking V-8 with more power than a flathead Ford?

    Olds or ...Ta Da!

    So around 1952 or '53 you had three choices, so why NOT pick the most unusual one? You really did not need over 300 cubes with a very light car AND they were plentiful in wrecking yards for cheap!

      Both of those cars were in Rod & Custom last year. I'll have to look for that issue to see for sure- but as I recall- one of those motors is far from 'stock' inside.
      (unless you had a certain little emblem on your Lark, or an Avanti)
