The '56 Caribbeans I've seen all had reversible cushions, fabric on one side and leather on the other.

Very nice. Do your back-seat cushions move about while driving with the top down like Jay's car?

Jay makes one statement I caught, he quipped that you can not get any Chrome work done in the state of California. Not true, one place right off my head is "Verns" plating outside of Los Angeles, I am sure there are others. LOL, Leno has never been a lover of the Studebaker Marquis, maybe a 1930 4 seasons President roadster would change his mind!

Thanks for posting Brent. It is very interesting that this was Packard's last hurrah(I have a '57 Clipper Wagon not nearly of this caliber).

I left a comment on YouTube about Jay's video, and I received this message in return:

I don't do 'Telegram' so I guess I will never find out what type of winnings I am passing up.

Probably a scam, seen this mentioned before

The cushions fit into a relief in the seat frame and also have snaps with straps to retain them . Also Jay states that the hood Click image for larger version

                Marquis? Or Marque?
At any rate, he WAS a member of SDC for a while; don't know if he still is or not.

Perhaps Jay's cushion straps are missing and he doesn't know any better? Maybe his seats were reupholstered and the upholsterer failed to add them?

I watched this video on YouTube yesterday. His Caribbean is a beautiful car, with the very interesting torsion bar/leveling suspension. I would love to go for a ride in one some day.

                      Scott,
Many moons ago I had the pleasure to drive a '56 Caribbean with the dual quads and reversible seat cushions. I was in awe at actually how brisk the acceleration was for such a big car. And at the time I was comparing to my '63 GT Hawk R4 clone.

In this video (or his video on his '55 Caribbean) Jay states that Packard didn't make any Caribbean hardtops in '55, but did in '56. Actually, Packard did make a handful (8 or 10, or something like that) '55 Caribbean hardtops. There was one of them in the Studebaker National Museum many years ago.
