  • Pickup in Bismarck ND for guy in Montana

A guy in Montana called me and said he bought a pickup from a guy in Bismarck, ND years ago and wants to pick it up now; but cannot get ahold of the guy. I now have 2 phone numbers for him if the Montana guy can call me back. Dan Caswell, Minot, ND www.dancaswellcollectibles.com 701-721-3617

He bought a pickup "years ago" and wants to pick it up now? Wonder how much the seller is charging him for storage??

Years ago I took a deposit on an 8’ Bush Hog offset rotary cutter. After a year of no contact from the buyer I was moving and ended up selling it to someone else.

I just sold a Ford 302 engine that a guy gave me $100 to hold for 2 weeks until he had the balance owed. That was over a year ago and collectively we did not agree on an installment plan and/or long term storage plan. It has now found a new home and the $100 deposit covers the handling fee associated with rolling it around my shop on the engine stand for over a year so I have room to do my work...............Just hoping he calls to come get it so I can break the news to him.

Years ago I bought a Studebaker truck for $400 but the guy also made me take an old Allis Chalmers B tractor. I got nailed by wasps loading the tractor on my rollback and put it on the Internet that same night for $325, leaving me with $75 in the truck. I took a $100 deposit on it but then the guy called me and told me to keep the money because a spark plug blew out and took out his eye. At that point the truck was free and like an idiot I turned down $1000 for it.

And I had just the opposite happen to me......at a big local three day car event I bought and paid for ($ 350) a Sun distributor test machine, told the gent the last day of the show I would bring my Jeep and trailer to pick up the unit. He agreed (took the cash and moved the unit to the back of his stall) , when I showed up early in the morning of the last day..........he had pulled up stakes and left. Guess who was left holding the bag for $ 350 and no Sun machine.

That sounds like something for local law enforcement.

Don't blame yourself for trusting someone. That guy was just a dick.

I'm going to assume that Roy means it in a good way.

From one dick to another, I know Roy meant no harm.
