For lovers of film noir and Studebakers!

I enjoyed a great little film from 1948 entitled "Pitfall". It starred Dick Powell and yes a young "Perry Mason" Raymond Burr.
But imagine how I felt that Dick Powell who plays an insurance salesman drives a new 1948 Studebaker Commander with beautiful wide white walls! There are a few shots of Studes on the roads, and a shot on Wiltshire Blvd where one sees a building with "Studebaker cars and trucks in the background.

I love watching the old B&W films from the '40's & '50's since you see so many cool cars. Perry Mason is one of my favorite series since each episode features a broad array of cool cars.

I remember a sci-fi movie, I believe it was "The Day The Earth Stood Still" which had a lot of Studebakers in it. The final scene especially.

The movie that heavily featured 1956 Studebaker President Classics and Pinehursts was "It Conquered The World" . It starred Peter Graves, Beverly Garland and Lee Van Cleef.

And if you are really really a gluten for punishment, here is the full movie as it appeared on MST 3000 in 1991 complete with 1991 commercials. A hoot! Mystery Science Theater 3000 was on Comedy Central and feature running comments with jokes about the movie and stars and in this case the cars.

Yes, it is a 1949 Commander Convertible. In one shot, when the glove box is open, you can see the serial number for the car on the placard. I wonder if that car still is extant? I would be interesting to find out.

Great movie. I've seen it many times. This stuff belongs in Studebakers in the Movies.
