If taking the plunge to remove the original front brake shows/hardware on the 57 GH or any Studebaker for that matter, if wanting to keep the original hub caps and new tires, can the stock stock rims be used? I will have to look again for the Turner article I stumbled on for how to do the swap but wondering just how much more has to be replaced?

NO, Studebaker Wheels do NOT work with Turner Disc Brake conversions.
Also the Wheel Covers rarely fit or stay on with Most Non-Studebaker Wheels.
On a Golden Hawk due to it's Original Condition VALUE and Style, I would NEVER consider that option.

Possibly...
If you use the "Hot Rods and Brakes" kit. This kit is a LOT lighter, less nuts and bolts, just as tough. A kit that they were copied from was on my 59 Lark (V-8) when I bought it. I then proceeded to put another 93,000 miles on it with no brake problems at all.
I say possibly, because at one time I had a flat front tire, and had to use one of the (possibly ?) original wheels to get that tire replaced. I only say possibly, because this wheel was in the back of the Lark when I bought it. I'm only guessing, that it was an original wheel.
I do know that the "metric calipers" are slightly smaller than the earlier calipers, but use the same brake pad.
