  • 1957 Golden Hawk spare tire rim, trunk mat and bumper jack info sought

Some, but not all cars have 2 or 3 things in the trunk: Trunk Mat, Spare tire or bumper jack.

    1) I am looking for a 5.0x15 rim used on the 57 GH. Possibly more than one rim due to hole wallowing for the lug nuts.
    2) I have no idea what the hounds tooth pattern looks like for the trunk mat or spare tire cover. Is it blue? Gray?
    3) I have no idea what the bumper jack looks like - aside from the 1958 Chassis book on page 531 that reveals the base and a portion of the jack shaft but NOT the item engaging the bumper. Did it have a J-hook to engage the bumper?

SMS sells the Hounds tooth at $95/yard. According to Rene' vinyl isn't the way to go but does in a pinch as sold by SI. Mentioned was Burtex that can be found but in a blue pattern. Either way that a rubber backing should be used?

I am hoping that someone might have a lead on all 3 items and/or pictures to reveal to include the bumper jack. But if you have a 5.0x15 rim and can let me know (see first 2 pictures) -or- a picture of a complete bumper jack that can lead me to something (3rd picture, 2nd from the right for a 1957 GH)....thanks in advance!

Speaking of which on the bumper jack, it seemed to me back in 1967 when I changed a tire on my 59 Silverhawk that the jack had a J-hook on it that attached to the ratchet portion of the jack.

    Does anyone know for certain?

Jacks are so hard to ID, it's not like they have a part number or anything.
Had a jack that looked like a Stude, Packard or maybe an AMC. Put it on that auction site for like $75 to see who would bite.
    Shipped it to India!
I had to ask...He said he had a Stude.

There IS a For Sale and Wanted Forum for Wanted items like this.

Original Trunk Mats were Gray, Black and White, checkered, Woven, Fabric, now available in Cotton backed Vinyl Reproductions.

Do you HAVE ANY known G/H Wheels?
      All '51 to '57 and "SOME" '58 15 Inch, all were 5 Inches, but I thought G/H's & '57 Clippers were 5.50 Wide.

Using this site and others for the first time, like anything it takes getting used to to know exactly where to post questions and/or comments. I appreciate those whose demeanor is one that involves latitude not criticism but thanks for pointing out something worthwhile.
