  • Hawk engine decals

    Greetings fellow Studists!

Just bought my FIRST Stude, a 63 Hawk. LOVE it! Restored by Fred Duplechin of Louisiana. Engine was rebuilt prior to his ownership and has no decals. Was wondering which ones I need to make it look "factory". Thanks in advance for your input. Any pics of a factory looking engine would be welcome too.

There is the Oil Cap "STP added at the Factory in the Break-in Oil" Sticker, the Air Cleaner Decal, the Battery warning Decal + to + & - to - due to Alternator, the "Studebaker" Battery Decal, and the Studebaker Anti-Freeze Paper Radiator Tag.

Larks got a "Caution Fan" Sticker for the Radiator, but Hawks have a Large Shroud so do not need one.

There are optional Chrome Foil Non-Factory Valve Cover "289" or '259" Engine Decals also.

As ALL Studebaker Parts, they can be found here:

Here is as close as I have to a correct ENGINE, a 63 Lark Engine the same as Hawk, all we are missing is the placement of the Battery Polarity Warning Decal etc. and ignore the Caution Fan sticker.

This one does have the Optional Valve Cover Decals, a matter of choice, not OEM correct.

I can't believe how Hard it was to find a Good Engine Pic out of Hundreds of Stude. Pics I have that actually has "Most" items correct!

Most of my saved '63 or '64 Hawk Pics have Avanti Engines, and most have wrong Battery, wrong Radiator Cap, wrong Air Cleaner and or, never with the "Snorkel" pointing straight to the Right. or missing Decals.

A TOTALLY Correct Studebaker Battery is not available, but at least an attempted correct one can be done with a Flat Top Group 24 Battery with hidden cell covers, as close to a generic Black case as possible and the Battery Decal.
