I am hoping not, but were any of our forum members affected by the recent tornado destruction?
From the news coverage it looks absolutely devastating. Our hearts go out to all who are involved.

Indeed; heartbreaking. So sad; best wishes to anyone affected, directly or otherwise. BP

We may learn more once the dust settles and people are able to take stock of their situation. I'm glad I don't live in that part of the country. Tornadoes are scary things.

I agree. I curse the long Montana winters but will take the cold and snow over a tornado or hurricane any day.

My wife and I drove up to Nashville last Friday, arriving about 4:30 in the afternoon. Our daughter lives there and didn't get down to Florida for thanksgiving and will miss Christmas also, hence our long weekend trip for a visit. We went to dinner that evening and visited till about 11:00 when we "hit the hay". About 3:15 a.m. the phones all went off with a tornado warning, so we all jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to the safest spot in her apartment. I went out on the front porch and watched the sky which was very ominous looking but saw no funnel cloud or danger. The local sirens were still running but nothing that I could spot in the sky. The power had gone out shortly after we got up but that was all I could see wrong. We eventually went back to bed, the sirens stopped and the power was out about 5 hours. In the morning light we could see lots of damage to the apartment complex and trees everywhere. We took a short drive in the immediate area and there was lots of damage all over the area. We learned on Sunday that an EF1 tornado had touched down about a block and a half from her apartment doing lots of damage but no injuries/deaths. Our vehicle never moved from the time we arrived until we left on Monday, but it was covered with dirt and debris from the event. It's amazing how much destruction a tornado can do, so luckily we are fine and back home. Bill

I went straight thru Monett, AR a couple days after its event on the way to family in Arkansas. That place is pretty much GONE

Especially when it passed only a block and a half away, and you never saw it. Nocturnal tornadoes have double the number of fatalities compared to daytime tornadoes.

            Glad you're all safe.
