  • 63 Lark dash center blank

Anyone know if a clock or tach is available for the center "Studebaker Corperation" blank in my Lark's dash?
If someone has found a suitable substitute I'd sure like to know what worked for you.
    Thanks!

Hey Tom. I've got a '63 clock that's 'driver quality' at best. Let me know if you're interested and I'll see about gettin' a pic.

You need a bezel, I have them for $30, a sender about $80. and a $500 tach Or just buy the bezel and a aftermarket tach

Matthew thanks! I guess I'druther have a tach, but leapin' lizzards JP, my whole car isn't worth $500. Ha!
By bezel, you mean the chrome ring with the fold-down doo-dads in the back? Mine cleaned up okay with steel wool. Was thinking about getting a small FLAPS unit and mounting it within the center circle.

Tom, I did just that. Ignore the red if it offends you

It is a Sun mini tach with a cutout in the front panel and back housing.

George; that must be the cheapie Clock dummy from a Standard or Regal, without the glass lens, or it was removed?

The Daytonas and I think Customs, had the one with the glass, the top of the line '64's do.

Tom; what JDP means is that the Factory Tach was the size of the Hawk Tach, so there is a cast pot metal chromed bezel to adapt it to the Large Lark dash hole, so you do NOT use the tin ring with the tabs to bend like the Instruments, Speedo, Clock and Clock Dummy have.

              Hi Rich,

No, there IS glass there - I'm not sure why it was so "transparent" in the picture. I do know why that one appears so black - it is a 64/5/6 with the green face. Up close you can see the Sharpie strokes where I colored it black.

After I got all of the tabs bent back into place, I realized that I had forgotten to put the salvaged aluminum cone over the tach (to match the other two gauges.

I did the same thing, George!

Mine came without glass and mounted in the center. Your IGN on the right is a better idea. Did you have to lengthen some of the wires?

                  Hi Tom,

Yes, I am sure that I lengthened the wires. I had the dash completely out replacing some melted wires. I also had the spare later model dash, so I painted that up to go with the red/black that is my car. My speedo was on the right,of course, but I moved it to the center.
