  • Caravan topper

I finally got the truck back from the canvas shop. They used an old army tarp to cover the original Caravan frame.
It fits in with the "barn find" look on the rest of the truck

So what Year is this Truck? it's not a "C" Cab, not a "R" Series and not even a "M" Series! Must be older than I am.

1937 (chev) I had a post a while back looking for info on these toppers which were after market accessories for many trucks
and available for Studebakers from the factory.

I seem to recall that Gary Ash had the design plans for the Caravan top at one point. I think he was going to build one for his M-5.

A couple of years ago, I sold Gary an NOS canvas for a Caravan top for his M5. Very little difference between the M5 and 2R5. Also sold a used but complete kit with worn canvas to another individual.

Thanks again to Skip for the canvas cover. It fit my frame exactly.

Got photos of this caravan top and truck in South Bend in May of 1996 - guy who owned it said it all came out of a factory box in the late 80s/early 90s. Beautiful truck all the way around.
