  • 1940 Studebaker Champion Rescue Project

A little under two weeks ago I picked up this lovely pre war champion! I love pre war cars especially four doors and have been looking for something decent for a while. This Studebaker fit the bill! It appears it was someone’s project decades ago that was started and never completed. I found it with flat tires on the back of a trailer. The engine and transmission was removed and then reinstalled and then nothing was done. I’ve been working over the past couple of weeks to get it ready to run again:
    1. Replaced starter button and all battery cables with 6 volt cables
    2. spark plugs
    3. distributer cap and rotor and condenser
    4. re bolted on the front fenders correctly
    5. tires and hubcaps (I also sprayed the rims and firewall black)
    6. Removed old battery cables which were run to the trunk
    7. general cleaning and aligned hood
waiting on starter, carb and belt and fuel pump gasket.

I am looking for some parts for it! Currently a starter, tailight lenses, driveshaft, hood hinges and springs and the hood latch assembly.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. It's a nice looking car. Almost reminds me of my first car when I was in college. It was a '40 Champion business coupe.
