I watched that Vise Grip Garage episode a few weeks ago. It was interesting to watch, but some of his comments made me cringe. I give Derek some slack because he is not familiar with really old stuff and he is trying to be funny.
I doubt that truck was ever a hearse. Those odd looking handles were probably attached while it was a fire truck to allow people to stand on the running boards. It is hard to imagine a funeral home in this country using a big truck for the hearse."In the heart of Arkansas."

Just about any updraft carburetor could be made to work well enough is his purpose is just to hear it run. He does not appear to be serious restorer. The vehicle has already been modified like crazy by prior owners. No "harm" would result from hanging a Brand X carb on it. Heck, even a Carter WE and a P-trap from the plumbing supply would work for his purposes.Gord Richmond, within Weasel range of the Alberta Badlands

Well, one thing he should have done was pull all the spark plugs, and put about a half-ounce of motor oil into each cylinder. Provide some long-overdue lubrication for the rings and valves, and help boost up compression for that initial start.Gord Richmond, within Weasel range of the Alberta Badlands

Several respondents alluded to his Red Green style. The style was immediately recognizable. Even his voice and cadence is similar. It served Red well for decades. I hope this guy can work this into something with a sponsor so he can reach a broader audience.
As for the truck the help is out there. He just needs to go to the AACA forum. I love this big monster truck!

You can send Derek a message at:
A small Minnesota & Wisconsin family based Garage that's wrenching like the everyday guys and gals. Every vehicle has a history waiting to be told. We're on a mission to preserve and understand that history while doing everything we can to get the younger generations involved.
