  • Oregon Studebaker owners

I'll be leaving Friday from McKinleyville, Ca (coastal), driving 90 miles across the Oregon border, then up the coast to to Florence or NewPort, then inland to Corvallis, Albany and Salem. I will be driving my 56 Hawk. It might be nice to know any Oregon owners in case something goes amiss on this adventure. Any one interested in exchanging contact info?
Probably unnecessary, a 65 year old car that I've owned for 3 months... what could possibly go wrong?
I'm doing the Da Vinci Days Graand Kinetic Challenge in Corvallis. Visiting a fellow Suzuki GT750 (70s water cooled 3 cylinder two stroke) owner and hot rodder in Albany. Then on to visit buddy Jesse east of Salem at a retreat center.

    Thanks,
    Rafe Hollister

Safe travels! Are those bananas, fuel cells, or kyacks?

This sounds like a job for someone in the Willamette Chapter. You will likely get a response from someone soon. Oregon members are always ready to lend a hand if needed.
I am too far north to be of much help. Also, I am working so my time is limited.
Do you have a club roster?

I have not heard of a club roster, so obviously I do not have one.
Not bananas, fuel cells or kayaks, Skyway. They are floats. The Kinetic Races are human powered vehicles that must travel on roads, off road on sand and mud, and in water. They are not designed for speed or efficiency. Think Dr. Seuss. or watch this clip... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9fcz-SYd9M&t=15s
or this for more detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAX1rlSlDK4
That is my new machine doing water test and without any art attached.

Cool! Why didn't you just say Water Buffalo Rafe? Fast bike in their day ; as long as you didn't try to turn (typical of the two stroke triples from all makers then). A buddy had one back then that I rode a few times. I stuck to 4 strokes. My KZ650 would easily walk him beyond a block or so. (All my two strokes are Yamaha's, I just got a '69 L5T 100cc to go with my three YSR 50's ).

Cool! He owns a water buffalo. Take some pictures. I have a Stinger, and would've liked to add a Hustler.

Titan 500 being speed shifted with his left hand! I did that a few times at the drag strip back in the day
                ... actually worked pretty good.

                  Hello Rafe,

Nice area you live in, I have been over in your neck of the woods several times. I am partial to the stretch of lost coast out near Ferndale. I am always intrigued by the drive-in screen that is left over when driving into Eureka. You will have some beautiful driving when you get into Oregon. Unfortunately I am too far on the south east side of Oregon to lend any assistance. Better your not going my direction anyway with all of the fires/smoke (fire season came early this year). I wish you safe travels and hope you enjoy the journey.
