That's Vern Ediger's place in Halstead.

We saw the Arial View by Drone of Vern's Place posted here, but THIS is just UNBELIEVABLE !

So THAT'S who's Place it was, Vern Edinger was a well known Parts Seller in SDC.

Seeing THAT many Studes. up close is WAY beyond Amazing and Awesome!
Sounds like a Great Guy, but of course he has No clue what is good to save of what is left of those Cars.

He went right by some fairly complete Hawks, never said a word, but THOSE are the ones that actually HAVE Saleable, in demand Parts also those "R" Series Truck Cabs, a Dozen or Two.

I hope a nearby Studebaker knowledgeable person can help him out.

The narrator does not know sh@! from shinola as far as cars. If it didn't have a name badge he didn't know what it was. As he says "it a business" More and more places are going by the wayside. No sense of history.

On the other side of the coin, we can't save them all.

Vern is/has long been a great source of Stude parts. He knows what he has, responds promptly, and is a straight shooter on prices. I have purchased quite a bit from him over the years, and even sold him a few bits for his own restorations. Highly recommended.

hey Chris are you certain Vern sold his salvage yard?

I've bought many parts from him - he once sold me an M5 roof clip and shipped it with a trucker friend on his way to NJ.

I just called Vern. He sold all of the junk cars but is keeping the property. Says after all these years he's ready to do something else.

Summer of '93 or '94, I went to the Skyline Halstead, KS plant on business, and spied Vern's yard after my first visit to the plant from my hotel. He had a '55 Champion Regal Sedan with some pristine "Butterknife" moldings that I snatched, paid for, and took back to Indiana for my '55. I had to explain to my employer why I didn't get home on time. But the experience of walking his yard back then, let alone the parts score, was worth it. It was100 degrees when I was in the yard, and the drive back to Indiana brought that weather with me. Never forget the experience. Never expected to run into it. Hope the best was preserved.

That was a cool video. It actually showed the50 Starlight coupe that Vern cut a big chunk out of the passenger side that got transplanted into Dad's car.

Vern used Sally’s email a lot.

Vern had the last Studebaker that Asa Hall ever bought (1948 M-16 grain truck) sitting at his place. I ended up buying it from Sharon.

Years ago, one of the women that worked for Vern picked up a Studebaker I had bought at auction and brought it back to Vern’s shop where he got it shipped out to me. The buggy now resides in Australia.

Fun to watch but painful to listen to.
...and did you catch that he “ used to crush a lot of cars” there?

Sally unfortunately passed away last year.
