  • 1964 Daytona convertible featured in current issue (August 2021) of Collectible Automobile

Just received my August 2021 issue of "Collectible Automobile" magazine. Noted a four page photo feature on a '64 Daytona convertible (one of 702). Car belongs to Robin Loughlin in Ortonville, Michigan and was restored from a very rough original by the owner with Craig Piper of Westmoreland Restorations in Blairsville, PA doing the body work. CA generally carries a Value Guide (valuation) for vehicles they feature. I am including that as well. Comments welcome.

Always one of my favorites. Second best is the 1960 Lark Convertible. I have owned a 1952 Commander in pace car colors. Best driving Studebaker in my opinion.

You already have the August issue? You must be a time traveler.
Anyway, the stated values for this model of car seems to me to be invalid. How do you put a price on a car when so few exist and even fewer are ever sold in recent years? If you have one with factory Avanti upgrades, I assume that it will bring far more than $30,000 in excellent condition. Aside from that, beautiful car, I would be proud to own it.

Believe the estimates were for a car with similar equipment as the one shown in the feature and not one with an R engine. That being the case I believe the estimates are in the ball park. And remember it is only an estimate. ....which is a guess.

Judging from Neil and Robin's work, that's probably one of the best ones in the country. Congrats all around. BP

If One or Two buyers really WANTED it, it would go for a lot more than $30,000.00

If anyone wants to see it close up, we are driving it to Indy for the national and will be doing a lot of cruising! Neil

                Beautiful car. Great color.
The zoom lens from a distant, low vantage point really gives the grill a more aggressive appearance. That may be the first time I prefer the '64 to the '63!

Thank you for posting. Yes we know the quality of work done by Craig at Westmoreland as well as the Loughlin's. There is something about Laguna Blue as well. I haven't seen their conv. but if it's anything like the Daytona HT that Robin pilots down the dragstrip at PSMC it must be astounding. I can't wait to see it at Indy.
