ID:	1891581 I went up to Carlisle yesterday for the swap meet and auction. I was a day late for the auction but the cars I wanted to see where still there. I thought my favorite color for the GT hawk was black until yesterday, the blue on this one looked amazing. I loved it. The lark looked like a fun ride as well. I saw another lark that needed some work but a solid project car. The 61 hawk looked like a bargain at its 12,500 top bid.

ID:	1891591 But the real fun were the next two cars. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I grew up wanting a fast Avanti and this one was perfect. A no sale at $47,500. It didn’t mention being anything other than an R2 but had the R3 air box on the engine. If I hadn’t bought 2 studes in the last year I’d be trying to negotiate on this car, it’s perfect. Black, R3(esque), wire wheels. When I’m ready to find an Avanti in 2-3 years this is exactly what I’ll be looking for. Or maybe track down someone who can build an r3 or r5 clone 😀 it was so perfect!

ID:	1891596 And finally the 53 starlight commander custom. Pictures didn’t really do it justice online and these pictures don’t do it justice either as the sun added odd lighting. S2D is a nicer car with better detailing, and a better looking Starliner, but this one was super clean. Based on pictures I saw online I was expecting a poorly built 20-25k build but it was much nicer than expected. I think it had a 283, custom grills, and electric windows and doors. I’d venture to guess it was built 20ish years ago as some of the build looked 90s dated but overall very nice. Was also a no sale at 47,500. I wouldn’t have minded driving it home but that Avanti has my name all over it

Those black cars; Avanti & Chevy wagon, are a real study in opposites.

bezhawk it looked like 80s/90s style GM switches for electric window and door locks. I thought it looked really out of place in an otherwise nice looking car

Those were for the multiple adjustments on the mid-90s Pontiac Grand Prix seats that were in the car.

Very informative and thanks for posting, but in the headline it's "Studebakers" without the apostrophe.

I believe that was a 64 only color- Strato Blue. My Golden Hawk is also painted that color and I am always amazed at how many people comment positively on the color. Apparently my picture wanted to be first in this post.

Plee4139, that is what I get for using my cell phone. Autocorrect....

5brown1 That is one seriously gorgeous Golden Hawk!!! the car looks fantastic in Strato blue. I had no idea that color existed until this past weekend. It's funny, a family friend had a white Grand Turismo Hawk and he drove it daily for years until he passed about 10 years ago now. The GT Hawks didn't do a whole lot for me. My brother has always loved them though. But over the last year I'd say, I've really started to appreciate them the more colors I see them in. White just doesn't show off the lines and hides the chrome accents too much. Black really makes the chrome accents "pop" but that blue color is phenomenal. Your Golden Hawk is even better!

Just to add, the red Lark did $9000 no sale, seller wants $12000. Looked to have been a high quality restoration.

                            That's what I said initially.

But remember, this is a car that is completely done, inside and out, top to bottom. When you think about the cost of just the most visible things like paint and interior, and what it would cost to do it to that level, it looks like a bargain. Agreed, it is not a desirable platform in many ways, but the condition counters that pretty well. Perfect car for somebody new to the hobby who just wants something to amble down to the ice cream stand or local cruise night. Based on condition, I don't think $12K is an unreasonable retail price.

I guess I missed out on the action.Me and a buddy went up there on Saturday and we didn't see any Studebakers! There was one Packard there but it was partially under a cover. I was looking for some much needed fasteners for the Daytona, but the vendor (and a few others I was looking for) must have left early........
