Thanks for posting this as it brings in new details that more fully explain the thought process of the designers...

Like many such stories written by non Studebaker knowledgeable people, this is a well written and well meaning Group of articles with a Lot of accurate Studebaker History and also has the "Standard" amount of errors.
Actually quite a few. The writer did come up with a lot of information about Brooks Stevens, that IF it is true, was not previously known as far as I know.

One thing that stood out to me was apparently indicating that the 289 was developed new for the '62 GT Hawk from the 259, the 304.5 R3 & R4 were "Stroked" 289's and getting several details mixed up between the '62 and '63/'64 GT Hawk Models, Vinyl Tops, '64 Door Panels etc.

Also getting the McCullough and Paxton Superchargers mixed up saying '63's had McCullough Superchargers, instead of acknowledging that it was the "SN-60 Paxton" made by the Paxton Products Division of Studebaker Corp.

But as someone will probably say: "who cares, ANY Publicity is Good Publicity"!
