  • Rechroming shop recommendations? (Was: Hawk bumpers)

My local chrome guy in Tampa FL went belly up. I need to get mine rechromed reasonably. Any suggestions? Southeast preferred.
    Thanks

Dennis, This place did the chrome on Danny’s 47 Land Cruiser. Very nice work.

You probably will want to remove the "Reasonable" Part, wherever you go for Quality work.

I just got some in Ohio for $350 each. They look real nice but shipping would be an issue.

How about Jerry Forrester in Georgia (Douglasville I think is the town). He is a Studebaker guy and a fairly regular poster here.

Space Coast is first rate. They did all my other chrome work. 5 month turnaround on bumpers though.

Barry Hackney in Texas did most of my Packard parts and was fast and reasonable.

Jerry Forrester in Douglasville, Ga. He does both street chrome and show chrome. Show is a little more expensive, due to the extra prep and care.

Barry Hackney in Houston, Tx. He does very good work, too.

I know for personal experience with both these fellas, that they take care of the customer, no matter what. Both are reasonable, as reasonable goes.

Dick Lindsey in Marshallville, Oh. I've seen his work at shows, but I've never had him do any work for me. From what I've seen on his tables, he does good work, too. Don't know about his prices, but I've never heard anything bad said about his business practices.

Who ever you decide to use, don't think your job is going to get done cheaply, or quickly. Even bad chrome takes time to mess up and it isn't cheap either. Been there done that.

Tri-City in Elizabethton, TN has been excellent for my classics.

About $350 per blade, overriders and bumperettes extra.
