I wonder if "brake basket" might mean "master cylinder"? To a person with a hearing disability, "master" could be heard as "basket", and sometimes people shorten the term to simply "brake master.."

You know how often you see the term "bumbers."

I expect it's a stock Studebaker engine, with an indifferent salesman who simply jumped to the obvious conclusion that "289" = Ford.

What bothers me is the overspray in the trunk, a sure sign of a quickie paint job that will probably not last a year. It looks like the car was originally white, so why paint it blue, & a sloppy job to boot. My grandfather always said, "anything worth doing is worth doing well". the wide whites, lack of knoledge in the description, "brake basket" whatever that is would make me shy away from this one, even at half the price, unless I was able to see it in person & give it a complete examination. 30,000 miles?? I doubt it seriously.

Hm. Could "basket" be "gasket"? Mech working on my 62 back in the summer suggested I find a new master-cylinder gasket...which incidentally I have not yet succeeded in doing. (May eventually fit dual MCs anyway).

          No; he said:

While the 5-6K valuation is silly, so is the asking price. It coud be a 10-12K in my opinion unless it's a bondo buggy.
