  • Chattanooga Drag Racing

EXTRA, EXTRA, EXTRA !!!! Anyone interested in drag racing in Chattanooga on August 4th? There is a chance to do just that at the drag strip 1 mile south of Camp Jordan. The track is open to the public for "Test and Tune", so if a bunch of you want to attend someone will need to get a count and be the organizer. This is not an SDC event and has no official business with the 2020 International Meet. The track is Brainerd Motorsports Park at 745 Scruggs Rd., Ringgold, Ga. and website is https://brainerdmotorsports.com More info later, Bill.

Additional info, track opens at 6p.m., racing from 7 - 11p.m. Costs are $20 per car and $10 per spectator. Racers need a helmet and must sign a track liability waiver. Again, this not an official SDC event and those interested need to organize this themselves. Thanks, Bill.

Its been a few years, but I have ran at this track. It's a nice 1/8th mile strip, pretty easy going folks for the most part. Some of the "big" races would bring serious folks and get a little intense.
Money may not buy happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle.

        Bill,
I guess I'll have to upgrade my rental car to a Challenger or Mustang!

OK guy's, you need to let Joe Flannery know that you want to participate. He is the one in charge of this get together. you can reach him at: jflan63@aol.com
There is already a lot of interest in this unofficial event, so lets see if we can get quite a lot of cars racing. Bill

Be sure that people know in advance that a helmet is required. It is a good idea, but I am surprised that it will be required for cars that will only be doing highway speeds in 1/8 mile.

Helmets have been required at drag strips for decades. Even when signing a waiver, litigious types have screwed things up for everyone else. And now guys show up with their shiny new Hellcat or SRT Demon and whine that they shouldn't need a helmet because it's just a street car. Yeah, right.. A 6.40 110mph 1/8th mile street car.. No helmet? Just wear it. It's your brain.

I'll bring an extra helmet for anyone that needs one.

Tex, I can speak for Jeff on this one. He IS bringing the "Black Car" to Chattanooga and will be racing on Tuesday night.

                          Gotta see Jeff's for sure!
As for Bob's mention of my '08 SRT8 Magnum, Jeff's video makes mine look like grandma's car!

My guess that the black car is a 300C SRT8, what kind of time was posted in the video?
mine is a red 300C SRT design not the 6.1 425 HP. but it would be fun to run it.

My world has been turned upside down in 2019... And all for the good.
My world has been stirred up to the max so far in 2020.... All for the good? We shall see.
I am thrilled to have the week kick off with some drag racing.. What a way to blow into town!
Now, all I have to do is prep the shop, prep heads, prep intakes, prep 'The Black Car'. Prep....Me.
No rest for the weary. No rest for the wicked...
Let's go! I need way better video's than this one <lol>... (But it does motivate me... 1st 'full' test pass)
