  • Saturday Night Special Ready For Paint Booth

Finished the water sanding yesterday. Finished a few last minute items today. Drilled holes for osrv mirrors. Decided to remove rear valance panel and paint it separate. Washed with Dawn, and he's ready. Wipe down with Windex, and prep all after getting it there and a little more taping up and the color coat.

Your statement about wipe down with Windex caught my eye. I'm not saying it won't work I have just never heard of it. I always do my final wipe down with wax and grease remover or acetone. Windex has a lot of stuff in it other than alcohol. If you have done this before without any ill effects on paint adhesion, then go for it. If you don't have personal experience with it, then I would buy the wax and grease remover that is made for final wipe down.

I agree on the wipe down. Acetone, or solvent designed for the final wipe down. (paint supply place will know). Then I used a tack cloth for picking up any lint or dust.

Thanks for all the kind responses, and suggestions. I always use a prep wash down before spraying. I just do the dawn wash, the windex wipe down and then the prep sol type wipe down, just before tacing. The name "The Saturday Night Special" came from my teen years. A lot of teens , here where I live, would have what we call today "sleepers". We called them Saturday night specials back in the day. I am getting excited to be closer.

After a long day Friday (took off from work), and with the help of my Wife and Son, we got him in the booth last night, after 8:00 P.M. It should be black this afternoon.

Thanks bez. Lotta hours go into them. Epoxy, just a step, right? I am gonna leave it up to all yall from now on. This is my last hot rod. Gonna try and post a picture after spray, in the booth. Then I am gonna go back to my progress in the members pictures forum.
