What should I expect to pay to have it rebuilt? I'll contact both of those guys and see who is cheaper. Thanks....

I feel your pain as to taking the Carburetor apart. I am always bringing something home that doesn't work and I try to take it apart. Most of the time I get lucky a little cleaning then back together all is well. But sometimes when I take it apart things just explode stuff flies everywhere don't know where it goes don't know where it came from. And poor ol' David gets to figure it out and put the pieces back together.

It looks as cost might be an issue. I can associate with
that. If it is then I will help. Send me the carb, and I
will build it for you and it's free, just cost you if I
need any parts, and the shipping. Let me know.

Money should be secondary.......workmanship and quality are the most important aspect.

That sounds like something a rich guy would say.

I'm going to send it to Tex and have him take a look at it and I'm going to give him a few bucks for his trouble. I don't even know him and I certainly don't expect him to fix it for free but I do appreciate his very generous offer....

Dave, if you just ask your local parts store, they will know of a local carb repair location to save shipping costs. Good repair is hard to find sometimes, though. Guys like Tex and Dave T-Bow, or Cathcart will get it safe as can be for your Studebaker, but remember that a decent running carb ranks up there as pretty darn important for safety. I know money is hard to come by these days, but unless you want to start a fire under that Champion's hood and possibly lose the whole car, I'd save your pennies and have someone with mechanic's skills guide you to get it installed correctly even after you get it fixed. It's not hard and it's great that you are interested in learning about the car, but I've seen even the best mechanics in a huddle under a hood at a Stude meet to gather all of the minds for the right way to do some things. Don' t get too exasperated, there is help here, just witty ones sometimes!

A flat rate Priority Mail shipping box is only $8.95 plus another 50 cents for a Delivery Confirmation (tracking) number so the cost of shipping it isn't a problem. How do you know that the guy at the parts store isn't going to refer me to his cousin Elmer who lives in a trailer next to a junkyard? I have faith that Tex knows what he's doing but I appreciate the input....
