shop manuals (hittin the books) read again

[Flashback]

How many have the manuals available for their Stude?
I see a lot of questions that some could be led through
with a parts, shop, owners manual. I can't tell you how
much help these items are.

Even have Shop Manuals and Parts Manuals for Studebaker models that I [u]don't</u> own! You never know when I might buy a Zip Van.....or an Avanti......or a '56 Sedan or Golden Hawk......or a '50.....or a M-series truck.....or a '57 Packard

I have gotten them for every Stude I've owned, even the Rockne. If I divest myself of the car, I keep the books. There are always more Studebakers down the road.

As far as the cars I own~ the only one I think I'm missing is the shop manual for my '54 Commander. But I doubt I'll need one for much because it will eventually have more in common with a later model Stude then a '54... [:0] [] [^]

I have the shop manual, the engine and chassis parts book and the time and step (labor) manual for my 1950 Champion. They were all money well spent. I would like to have a body parts manual, but it can't really be a priority for me right now.
IMHO, the shop manual for my 1950 F**d pickup was much more detailed and easy to understand than my Studebaker shop manual. Of course, F**d owners need to use a shop manual more often than Studebaker owners, too
The time and step manual is nice for helping to figure out disassembly techniques, and to give you at least an idea of the magnitude of a job, although I find it hard to imagine that I will ever be able to do the tasks in anything approaching the amount of time that they estimated for some of these jobs. Can anyone on this forum remove, inspect, lube and replace a clutch on a 1950 Champion in 3.9 hours?

Not only are the shop manuals a great help...
The service bulletins are a great addition, too.
