I'm sure that many have installed vintage air in their Studebakers . Is there any of our vendors that make or carry the brackets to install vintage into our Studes. I have looked at vintage's website and notice they don't have anything for Studebakers. Any help would be appreciated.

Ebon Jones (railway on the forum) has installed AC in more Studebakers than anybody else on the planet.

Here you go. These are the brackets for PS:

I wish I was within a rational distance of Ebon- I'd love to be able to just drop off the car and pick it up when he's done

As Dick said, I'd contact him before you buy anything.

The interior is a little more difficult. You have to improvise using the Vintage Air brackets; depending on which model you choose, there are a lot of choices to make.

I did mine with a Studebaker evaporator inside and Vintage Air kit in engine compartment. It was time consuming but not too difficult. The brackets and compressor fit fine, the condenser came with universal brackets that fit fine as well. If I get a chance I will post some pictures. Unfortunately I have not had time to get the system charged yet.

Here are some pictures of the Vintage Air/Studebaker hybrid system I did:

I ran the low pressure line under the intake manifold and down the fire wall to a bulkhead connector. The high pressure line runs along the inner fender to the bulkhead connector into the passenger side.

I used a hose to a hard line connection under the receiver dryer to the condenser input connection. The condenser output high pressure is hose to the receiver dryer.

They also have the crank pulley and needed longer bolt.
Bob Helm (stude vendor in TW) also sells individual parts for his AC conversion if you don't want his complete kit.

I never thought of running a line under the intake... is there any chance having that line run through an area of highly concentrated heat like that could have any negative effects- like losing some of the efficiency of the A/C?

I'm guessing you researched this aspect... or did you? Just a thought...

I have a neighbor that teaches auto AC at the local technical college and I asked him about running the low pressure line under the manifold. He said that it should probably work without any problems. If it was the high side he would be more concerned but the low side should not be an issue. However, we will see what happens when we get it working. This definitely is a more clean look than running the hose around the outside.

Hey guys, thanks for posting all this info and pictures. I have intentions and have started collecting needed parts for the A/C also, so your info helps tremendously.

What evaporator did anyone purchase from vintage air to put in a 62 hawk?

I purchased all of my bracket supplies from tom Karcowitz (spelling could be different). He sells out of a bus at the nationals.

Dan you did an outstanding job on your Hawk.
