My wife and I echo the above comments. We've been here all week and have had a great time. All contact with the local chapter members was good. Also, the weather could not have been better.

Amen to that! I was only able to go up for today, but it was really something. I heard nothing, but praise for all aspects- organization, tours, food... Today the weather was perfect- 76 degrees, very clear. There were some incredible cars there too. Would you believe TWO '38 Commander 4-door convertibles?

Only being there Wed/Thurs kind of stung, but the weather, and the location was great...
(I did not stay there, but I used their bathroom)
Being unencumbered with Stude allowed much wandering and chit chatting. Spent more time wandering and kibitzing than anything else.
Tried to help JP clean up a spotless GT Hawk, but just made more mess than I was cleaning up.

Helped a NJ Avanti owner clean spewed diet Coke off of his brand new $10k white paint job (10K for white???[:0])...
Seems a photgrapher guy stumbled while walking between cars opening his Coke and fell. The Coke exploded (like a NASCAR victory lane dance) and sprayed his Avanti.
He was NJ livid (in the very best Avanti owner kind of way)..
I put my freebie Holiday Inn Express coffe cup down and grabbed his whole roll of paper towels and started wiping up his Avanti, staying between him and the photographer.
I had to keep telling him to settle down, as it would be hard to get his Avanti judged while having a stroke...
After a while he was about as normal as anybody from NJ could be...
His wife was nice and appreciated the forced intrusion.
We got is all cleaned up way before the judges got there, so everything was ok again in Avantiland.
I kept telling him not to sweat it as good things always follow bad things.
Turns out they were from Avanti Magazine, and they came back and did a nice little photo shoot of his car.
See... Good things happen after bad things happen...
I split Lancaster about 3pm and blasted down to Roanoke (where this wretched prose is spewed)

I was a long time member of the Keystone Club,but have not been a member for several years.
Playing with motorcycles and 2 teenage sons have kept me busy.
I told Nancy Phaler that I plan to join again.

It's gonna be a tough act to follow. Very good organization and something like 50 or 60 chapter members working 12-hour days. Everything took place at the host hotel, but there were at least six other hotels in various price ranges and a variety of restaurants within walking distance. Many people left their vehicles on the hotel grounds the whole week and walked to a different restaurant every day.

And as noted, the weather was spectacularly nice for the whole week. In fact, the dew was so heavy in the morning that most of us didn't even need to use the hose to wash our vehicles.

The only sour note was that a press helicopter buzzed the place at LOW altitude for about 20 minutes at exactly the same time as the Studebaker Band concert.

My thanks as well. I'm still rather frustrated that I only had a day and a half to spend. I know it's better than nothing, but to be there on a whirlwind and unable to see everyone I wanted- I finally met Ted Harbit- for about 20 seconds[V] Saw several friends once for a brief hello, never even saw Guido or BP I thought, that's why you spend the week- which I couldn't. Pretty disappointing[xx(]

Beyond that, I just loved all other aspects of the Meet- what a great time otherwise. I told Don he's not going to know what to do with all that extra time and energy when the Meet's over

Thank you all for a great Meet. Most of the hard work gets done unnoticed, and underappreciated. I refuse to do either![^]

I really regret not being able to go. My sister called me yesterday to 'rub in' how much I'd love the concours! (She and my brother-in-law are getting reacquainted with Studebakers and this is their first SDC function without me!)

She loved that everything was right at the hotel, enjoyed the area restaurants, said the weather was great, said my brother-in-law met a group of the Ontario guys in the bar and had a good time and even joined their region (!), and as a pleasant side story, the two of them toured the State Capitol in Harrisburg with their local state representative from all the way across the state.

Thanks to all those involved as it was a good meet. Lots of nice cars to look at and a lot of parts. We just spent the day touring Gettysburg and there is plenty more we will not have time to see in the area. I hope that free dinner on Monday is the start of a tradition. It got a lot of folks together and was a good time. Thanks again.

I have to agree, The organization was great. I've been to many more AACA events than SDC fandango's but I think the SDC should be giving classes to other clubs.

I also have to comment on how many truly nice people I met. Everyone was friendly and I met many new friends.

I'd like to echo what many others are saying about the Lancaster meet. The Keystone Region did an exceptional job putting this meet together. From my perspective, the whole thing went off without a hitch. My wife and I met some pretty terrific people and came home feeling great that we were part of it. Keystone Region really raised the bar when it comes to putting on the event.
Thank you Keystone folks. You should be very proud of a job well done.
