Paul, you closed your eyes; now we need more pictures.

That looks like the condition of the one I parted out twenty years ago.[V]

        Len,

quote:Great looking original car, Paul. Was this in your family? I love original cars!
No, but it seems an aweful lot like one that my grandpa drove when I was REALLY young. But this one originated in Tennessee, and migrated to Michigan in the early '60's.

But with no front floor and the seat stuffing falling out of the ripped upholstery, it's a little too far gone to stay original. At least I saved it from the cutting torch and a complete chop-job, which is what the previous owner had in store for it.

        Brad,

        quotearted out
Hard to tell if your smilie means you regret parting it out, or if you think I'm nuts for trying to save this one.[:I]

Seriously, it's too bad I'm a rank beginner. But between my son the professional mechanic and the SDC, I hope to do it justice.

Definitely regret, Paul. At the time it was too much project for my situation. I've restored much worse ones since then; some less desirable than a Land Cruiser.

On the positive side, at least I know it lended itself to other restorations, rather than getting crushed like so many others.

I have a feeling you're going to love this car.

Now you got me thinking back twenty years. I had it in a shop to restore it. When I decided not to proceed with the project I sold it to Al Hall at A&B Studebaker, knowing the parts would find good homes. A few months later the shop burned to the ground. Had I continued the project and the car still been there, all would have been lost.
