That WAS the theory on these. That's why there WERE lefts and rights. Supposedly the air-flow would help keep brake temperatures down.
There was a later 14" imitation of these that had no lefty or righty. Came on some Mopars if I remember correctly. These wanna bees don't have the burnishing in the center. There are a couple of concentric ridges tho. Of course, being for 14" wheels, there's nothing Stude they'd fit unless you wanted to use them on your '58.[}
