    $976/2=$488

At $488, I'd have bought the trim rings I needed for my Fury GT. Wheel covers and trim get so abused that I'm firmly convinced these are the single hardest item to find in excellent condition over time.

Keep these prices in mind when buying a bargain, fancy Studebaker needing everything. What ever you estimate, it'll be too little.

If these get put on a car I'll bet it's only while it is on the show field or auction block. These prices give a poor boy like me nose bleeds.

You may very well see the "World's Most Expensive" Studebaker wheelcovers if someone puts up a NOS set of 4 AC-3280, "Aero-Struts."

I bought a set from Studebaker Salvage for $10 or $12 back in 1963, and installed them on the '57 Silver Hawk I had. They lasted about a week on the streets of South Bend before someone decided they liked them more than me. I rushed back to S/Salvage for another set, but they had all been sold![:0]

Winner is in Australia, where we can safely assume these parts are much harder to come by. But still!

I saw a set of 4 Aero-Struts on eBay last year in driver condition - they went for around $375.

I have accumulated a couple of sets of NOS Aero-Struts over the years. Every single one of them was pitted, right out of the box.

The Aero-Struts weren't of great quality. Unlike other caps that Studebaker used (most of the post-war ones were from Lyon Mfg.)these weren't stainless steel. They were chromed steel (the cover) and chromed pot metal (the spinners). While I don't know who the maker was, it was likely a major player in the after-market parts biz.
I've got one Aero-Strut in my collection (Thanks Charlie!), but I'm not sure I'll ever sport the money to have it refinished. With rechroming what it is these days, it would end up being ONE EXPENSIVE wheelcover![:0]

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

The wire wheel caps introduced late in the 63 model run might bring more NOS and of course the mag wheel prices would buy you a nice GT Hawk.

Well it seems that the buyer paid $726.00 MORE than perfect NEW ones for one good NOS, and a shelf worn one! [:0] [:0]

WOW, talk about not understanding the market! [:0]

This Aussie could save a bunch, by just joining SDC and reading Turning Wheels!!

The AC2799 Wheelcover is in S.I.'s Catalog for $125.00 ea. so I am sure Ed has ran copies of that page in Turning Wheels at some point, or one could call the number there and ask for some! Or, I'll gladly sell anyone some! [:0]

I better email him and tell him about my RARE ONE of kind, '63 Lark 6 Regal 2 Dr. with Overdrive! It's the only one with 3 P215X75-R15 blackwall Tyres and a P205X75-R15 WHITEWALL and only two '59 Lark hubcaps!

And this week only, you can steal it for only $35,000.00! [:0]

Another good reason to be a Lark lover... those for Larks are a dime-a-dozen, caps or full covers! I've bought a few sets of each off eBay[^]

So now I've made a mental note: If I come across some caps like the subject, I'll know they're worth slightly more than the $48 for a set of 4 that I paid for Lark covers[:0]

I had ten extra used spoke wheelcovers. About 20 years ago, I sold the best four (show quality) for $40. I still have the other six around here. They are all worn or damaged to some extent. That is why I didn't mention them on the thread where the guy needs two for his very nice 1961 Hawk.

And, they are very heavy. I ran a set very briefly, but was having enough trouble keeping regular wheel covers on without worrying about these. I could just see one of those suckers spinning off and going through someone's windshield.
