  • The Excalibur Story

I was browsing the history website that Brooks Stevens Design has up, and found a PDF called "The Excalibur Story" that details the development of the Studebaker SS and how it became the Excalibur. It's a cool read and fills in a lot of the little details I wasn't aware of. Here's the link:

Interesting web site. Thanks for posting.

Brooks Stevens used the Excalibur name before he worked for Studebaker.

Here's a related thread with some great photos, if interested:

Craig posted a great photo of Excalibur #1 at the Stevens Museum.

Thanks again to Leonard, our unofficial SDC Forum archivist, for enhancing these threads for the more visual of us.

Hey, I've never noticed it before, but the Excalibur Hawk has an Avanti back glass as a windshield! [8D]

I was struck by the similar lines to my favorite Lincoln, the 1956 Mark ll.

                  Good eye for curves Matthew!
Imagine how long that single pane safety glass back window windshield would last on a real race track?[:0][B)]
