  • Another wear the shirt story

At times there have been posts about what happens
when wearing a Studebaker shirt out in public.
Today I was at a estate auction wearing my Forum
shirt and was approached by a guy who asked if I
really was a Studebaker enthusiast. After chatting
a bit I got directions to his home and after the auction
    went over and tossed a T86 with O.D and a 3.54 geared
Dana 44 in the back of my 'burban. When I asked how much
I got a wave of the hand and a thanks for moving it so he
didnt have to.I'll head back in a week or so to find out else
he has.The car they came out of had been rodded and these were
left over.Kudo's to the guy for saving the parts instead of
    just tossing them.

Yeah - I once got the WHOLE underpinnings of a V8 coupe because someone gave me a tip when they saw me looking at Stude parts at an open swap meet.
    Guy says: "You into Studes?"

    "Yah"

"Here's my phone # - gimmee a call on a weekend. I've got some stuff I'd like to find a home for."

Next weekend I'm at his place and he hands over the whole front frame clip - with all new suspension and brakes AND a 44TT rear (3:31) that's all cleaned, painted and fitted with new brakes. (all finned drums too!) Later he called me to come and collect about 6 or 7 crates full of Stude stuff!

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

      It never hurts to advertise.

This guy finds out I have a Rockne and, before you know it, I have a complete spare drivetrain from spark plugs to spring bushings and a few sheetmetal and plated parts.

I can't agree more. THe patch on my jacket also yielded a rear axle (complete with drums!). Another huge haul of NOS goodies came my way because a fellow rider noticed the Studebaker key fob on my MOTORCYCLE!

I've got to get busy on my "STUDEBAKER - Indie before it was cool" t-shirts.[8D]

When I went to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village I wore my Studebaker T-shirt. I bought some items in the gift shop and the sales clerk saw my shirt and said that he had 5 Studebakers!

I've had that happen to me too (but not recently). I walked by a big Olds parts dealer at a big swap meet one time- when he saw me he said I got a bunch of Studebaker stuff with an Olds dealer I bought out. I sold it, but the guy never paid me. I'm going to get it back- you interested? I was- stuff was all gold- M series grille guards, running boards, radio kits, '53 fog lights, etc., etc., about 3/4 of a 14' box trailer full- ($150) The stash was upstairs in an old Packard dealership- no windows, pitch black, but my seller brought a generator and lights[8D]. Another time at the Sully Meet (Chantilly, VA), I'm standing by my Avanti and a man walked up and asked if I was interested in a bunch of Studebaker supercharger stuff. $50 for several partial superchargers and a NOS set of the balls (in a plastic package with oil).

...and this Mercedes Benz Service Manager says to me, would I take a stack of parts catalogs, a leather key fob and an enameled radiator hose display sign off his hands?

My response? Who would want any of that old crap?

I still have the key fob and the enameled sign.

Does anyone make a T-shirt or cap with the Studebaker S Red ball logo? I've looked for one a couple times, but haven't found them.

Don't know about the shirt but I have a red ball cloth patch that could be sewn to any shirt or cap. I'm sure they are still available.

During very hot or very cold days, I walk a couple of miles a day at a nearby mall. It's one mile around the inside each time around. Anyway, I usually wear one of my Studebaker t-shirts while walking. I became good friends with another guy who's a Buick guy. He noticed my Stude shirt and that struck up a conversation. He told me that there was a GT Hawk near his home for sale. So I went over to see it with a friend of mine & my friend bought the car and still has it.
It's a white '63 GT Hawk and it's in beautiful condition.

By the way, you can depend on Bondobilly for good quality Studebaker clothing. He's a stand-up guy.

YEah, I got a red ball cap from bondobilly. Great quality!! Unfortunatly, no one ver notices when I wear it and I have no cool stories of recieving front ends, or other wonderful things. In fact, I was wearing it at an outdoor antique walk, at a booth for a guy who deals is automotive memorabilia and I asked him if he had any Studebaker stuff. He looks at me and asks "so, are you into Studebakers then?" Ummm...look at the hat, man...look at the hat. (by the way, he had very little Studebaker stuff. But I did purchase and interesing add that day of a father and son working on studebaker pistons together)

1963 Lark Custom, 259 V8, TT, 4 doors, 2 tone paint. Driven often, always noticed. Man I love this car!!

I was at a show last weekend and a guy came up to me and asked me where he could get rid of a pair of 60 Lark V8 heads her rebuilt for a guy 5 years ago and never picked them up. I asked him what he wanted for them, he said he would give them away so I am going to pick them up this weekend. Don't you just love it when that happens.
