my truck is green

My new 1955 truck has the original dark green paint with a coat of light gray primer over the complete exterior of the truck. Over the weekend I sprayed some brake cleaner on the drivers door and washed the primer off , leaving nice green underneath.Now to do the rest of the truck. I can't imagine anything else working any better than the brake cleaner without lifting the green underneath , but am open to suggestions from anyone who has washed primer off before.Thanks.

Be careful with the brake clean, it might lift the factory paint if it gets under a chip for example. You might clean a rust prone area to see why they primered the truck.(back of the front fenders for example)
