I love that the demarcation between the coral and black on the Hawk is at the "checkmark" and over the c-pillar, with the decklid matching the lower body. So sweet.

The wheels on the Champ appear to be GMC/Chevy Truck alloy wheels from the early-mid 90s.

Our 64 Daytona Hardtop,(STUDEE64) was built in Hamilton Sept 23, 1963 and sold via National Motors, 819 Yates St., Victoria, B.C.

It came back to Ontario sometime in the early 1980's and I found it about an hour north of Toronto and bought it Oct 5, 1989.

Very nice car, Barry...but, of course, I'm partial to 1964 Daytonas!

Was the car built in Hamilton as an R-powered car? I note what appears to be the all-white steering wheel...and from what I can see, the Hamilton-style "flags" on the C-pillar. BP

Hi Bob,

The car was not built as an R-1. It came as VJ8 289 225 HP, 4 bll, 4 speed, 3:73 TT, duals, disc brakes (now Turner) p/b radio, buckets, etc.

We restored it with .040 pistons, Harbit cam, Edelbrock 500 carb, T-5 Mustang box, added A/C and power steering, American Torq Thrust D's, Don Simmons stainless, and of course those neat little R-1 badges for fun. It is my 'tribute' version for the last Studebaker built in South Bend.

The white wheel was standard '64 for Hamilton and the flags do not have the integrated 'V8' as used with South Bend cars. It was originally Midnight Black, but it deserved Red and got it!

Wow that was a nice little group. I like the 64 convertable and HT i must say! My 64 2dr sedan is a canada car and im not sure about my 64 ht r-powered car actually.
