Agreed, Bob; nice car. But do you realize it started out as a Six? Note the 62S Serial Number. Sellers should probably disclose that...if they even know it. (And being dealers, I'd say it's their business to know something as basic as that!) BP

To be fair, they may not be aware; I wouldn't have thought of it[:I] If they're Stude specialist, I'd agree, they should know (and disclose) that. But if they sell all makes, I wouldn't expect them to know it- found a car, bought it, listed for resale. That leaves out the stuff we'd do- research, PO, asking the forum, etc.

If I were looking to buy it, I honestly wouldn't have questioned the originality; I'd be focused on condition, which would include things like if anything looked butchered or cobbled together. I would have then brought it to the forum where I would have gotten surprised by that[:0]

Since he makes a point of calling it a "numbers matching" car, he should change his ad. Even just a different V8 would effect the value, but a V8 in a six chassis could still have the small brakes, etc.
That does not bother me as much as the pimped out paint and gangster white walls.

The "factory correct" preceding the "matching numbers" should be changed, too. I like the interior and ext. color combo but that isn't how it left the factory, either. Nice car to pick up even if misrepresented. I know there have been numerous discussions about the frame's steel gauge being different on the sixes than the eights in the Lark years only, right? Is this an example of the frame being lighter gauge steel, as well as the brakes being smaller?

You made me go back and look at all the pictures... I saw the wide whites, which I liked, but missed the white paint. Not sure what "pimped out" means, just looks like plain old white paint to me[?] Easily painted...

You're right about the "numbers matching" comment- that shows the seller may know about the non-original engine, and is avoiding the issue. Makes me question whether "zero rust and zero rust repair" is the truth as well........

Base on the above, I revise my title of "decent price" to "maybe a couple grand high"....

I think there is only one frame for all the convertables. There is also only one crossmember for six and eight. The brakes are different, as are the springs, and different radiators, but they are mounted on the same frame.

Some may love the blue down low, white above, white top,then the way too wide white walls, but to me, that's trying too hard, Thus the pimped out comment. I'd feel the same way about a C-K with skirts, fog lights and the rest. To me, it just clutters up the basic lines, but others may well disagree.
I agree, the price is not out of line if you like the look, and don't care about the numbers matching thing.

You're right, sometimes getting carried away in the hunt for original, optional equipment can clutter up a normally perfectly beautiful car. Does anyone in the club know of this car? I doubt this is a SDC effort with that trim and paint. An honest dealer description would be nice, but it's always buyer beware.

Thanks for the confirmation on the frame question. I've only had original V/8 convertibles, but had a discussion with a veteran club member who insisted that the convertible sixes were a lighter gauge steel, even with the X frame. I had found a six car and wanted to put a V/8 in it and he talked me out of it for that reason.

I emailed the seller and informed him the S on the vin plate indicated it was a 6. He insists it is all original. This was his reply:"This car is a ONE owner and this is the original engine that came with it. Thanks for looking It is really a nice car and it runs great" Bill
