Aluminum Lark Radiator

The radiator puked out on me today, along with the water pump. I scrounged around the shop and found a Lark/Hawk radiator, made of aluminum. Looked completely stock, except for what it's made of. Got it in the Lark, and it seems to work fine.

Any ideas on what the heck it came out of? Never seen another one. [?]

It was probably a stock radiator, re-cored with an Aluminum core.

You will need to keep lot's of Anti-Freeze in there, at least 50% to keep the corrosion down. Maybe no dissimilar metal problem though, since it is isolated from the iron engine.

It's got aluminum tanks. Aftermarket tanks maybe?

Is is a cross flow or vertical flow? I bought an aluminum rad from Summit and it almost a drop in for my Hawk

Vertical flow, I would guess. The 'rows' go vertically, if that's what you're referring to.

Can you tell us a little more about this radiator you got from Summit? I'm needing to replace the radiator in my '56 Golden Hawk.

If it's aluminum and copper you will have a problem. Aluminum and copper are bitter enemys. Many a air conditioner has went bad where the 2 connect. Summit has a radiator that is real close to my 56 Parkview.

It's all aluminum. Upon a little closer inspection, it looks like another rad was used with the Lark side pieces. That would make sense.
