We are working on them togather. Would it be worse to be strung up by a broken thumb, or a broken toe? NT

That they did, Leonard. Readily available as an option after mid-1959 production. See Page 12, October 2005 Turning Wheels.

quote:Looks like Gus has influenced our lingo about Stude Trucks. Hey Matthew you need some foam teeth for The Pumpkin. That would be great.
Yep! Everytime I look at the truck, I think about your 'Gus'. Foam teeth? Hmm.. didn't think about that.

        quote:Matthew,
I would never have thought you'd go with the Transtar grill. I liked the transtars a lot and had one back in the 80's.
Are you going to paint the grill off white?
        Would look pretty cool.
Looking forward to the finished truck.
It's either this grille or spend a lot of time smoothing out the fenders. The grille will either be off white or orange.

quote:Looking good but just not the same after seeing it at SB last summer. You seemed so proud of the difference of a Scotty. Got to look a second time now to realize it's still a Scotty after adding that fiberglass grille, but hey I like the fiberglass grille on my '57 Transtar. One of the reasons I bought it.
I will use the Scotsman hood. I'm still quite proud of the truck, it's just getting a 'new look'.

Like BP says, the "Deluxe grille package" was indeed an option on the Scotsman trucks. Tim Stevens (AKA studemaker) has one. [^]

I'm still trying to figure out how Matthew posts on the forum at a time of day when normal kids are in school. (Hmmm....I may have answered my own question!)

JUST FUNNIN' Ya', Matthew; keep up the good work. (You're right; using the DeLuxe grille saves a lot of metal work on the fenders. Good thinking...and it looks better, too.) BP

A black stripe panted across the center of that grill, and Voila! ya got a set of chompers that'll scare the bejeebers out of the unsuspecting.

I got a question Matthew. Is the ONLY thing that is going to keep that hood held down is the integrity of the fiberglass grill the hood latch metal was rivited to? That seems like a weak anchor when the air going into the engine compartment at speed starts trying to push up that hood!! I would hate to see that big metal hood spring up and smack your windshield and roof as you were driving down the road!! Am I missing a hidden support or something? I have no knowledge of how that era truck is built,so I am curious!!

Champ's got a fair question, Matthew. Of course, there ARE two brace rods that support that hood latch on the glass-grilled C-cabs. I MIGHT have a pair of those rods. IF I did, will you need them Matthew, or have you already got a pair?

Thanks for the offer Biggs, but the Scotsman has those same two support bars, and they bolt up to the 'glass grille. So, I'm good to go. [^]

I'll get some pics later today. Easier to 'splain that way.

                      Young Matthew,

A NOS Scotsman grille is now on e-Bay and the seller is in Jawga. You may want to buy it and tuck it away.

I saw that Gary. Already at $80 with 5 days left? More than I want to spend.
