  • The Miracle Studebaker - calling Dick Quinn

    Here is a photo I just found in Gettyimages.com - http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/267...9187DF9B07BCE1

The photo is copyright, I think, so I'm just providing the link.

Here is the caption: The tallest man in England Sergeant McCullock inspecting the world's smallest motor car the miracle Studebaker, on show at the Schoolboys' Own Exhibition at the Imperial Institute in South Kensington. (Photo by Harry Todd/Getty Images)

I've never heard of this one before. Has anybody else?

    What a neat scale car!
    Wonder where it is today?
Wonder if they built more than one?
    Questions.... So many questions...

I bet they are telling Sergeant McCullock that someone stole their rear hub cap!

Scott, Thanks for sharing that photo. While I have never seen that particular image I am aware of the car. It was used by Henly's Ltd. the Studebaker distributor in London for promotion. While the photo from Getty shows it as a '34, and the radiator mascot supports that designation, the one I am providing above shows it with the new 1935 models. The verbiage below the photo provides additional details about the minature car. I must add that I am convinced that the two guys riding in it (in the Getty photo) are either midgets or children dressed as adults! I am also curious as to how tall the officer is.

Thanks Dick. Isn't it amazing how much stuff there is out there about Studebaker most of us have never even heard about? I think Turning Wheels should never lack for content.

Now we need the Shrock Brothers to make a 1/70th scale version of that car. We could place it onour finger tips [8D]
