The leopard skin seats make me breath fast! Seriously, there's nothing wrong with that paneled interior, since that pannelling would take any upholstery foam and vinyl pretty well. Given that the original cardboard is gone, I would start with masonite or 1/4" ply for new door panels anyway. Not original, but as a starting point for a modified, half the work is done by getting the right shape for the substrate.

If there were ever an example of a fifteen-hundred dollar car, this is it. The owner should email the high bidder, take the $3050 and RUN to the bank.
