I saw a new listing on E-bay for a 1970 Avanti R210. I thought that the R2 designation was with the supercharger. I did see a vacuum gauge on the dash but no supercharger in the engine bay. Am I wrong?

That Avanti has been on eBay for quite some time with that truck designation in its header line. I don't know if the seller knows that, is doing intentionally doing it in hopes of drawing Studebaker truck owners scanning eBay or simply doesn't have any idea what he's doing...maybe even a scammer.Poet...Mystic...Soldier of Fortune. As always...self-absorbed, adversarial, cocky and in general a malcontent.

If you do not enter a model, there is a default entry made. It is usually 2R10. I don't recall "R210". I don't even know what that is.
EDIT: I looked up the listing and it states: 2R10, not "R210". The 2R10 is the default mode for that location in the listing of Studebakers.Last edited by studegary; 07-26-2019, 02:02 PM.Gary L.

It's listed as "1970 Studebaker 2R10". Not a Studebaker, not a 2R10. Description says good hog troughs, only surface rust, but photos show much rust and what seems freshly applied undercoating. Carpets appear cheap and GREEN! ugh. However, price is cheap.Gary L.

This car was recently sold on E-bay out of the Miami area. It is now from Venice which is on the west coast south of Tampa, so someone bought it and probably found it not to be what he expected. The carpet is new to this time around, but I think the seller realized he didn't make a "good" buy and now wants to peddle it. Bill

Bill,
Another item of note is it is listed as RQB 1555. Mine, also a 1970, is RQA 0332. I'm sure glad mine isn't crusty underneath like this one. I am assuming there is enough humidity in Florida to produce this result.
The other 1970, dark green one which been posted for about one month appears to be a much more solid purchase.
Cheers, Bill

EDIT: I gave up on going to Florida to look at Avantis. Most "retired" with their owners from the north. The last one I looked at in Central Florida was one of these. The car looked great when you walked up to it. When the first thing that I did was get down on the garage floor to look under the car, I could see by the owner's face that the sale would be off. It turned out that the owner and the Avanti had recently relocated from Ohio.Gary L.

Even the ones that were sold new here in Florida (as with any make of car) are susceptible to rusting anywhere on the car, especially if they are not garaged. The salt air will get to all the tiny crevices and other metal parts (frames and hog troughs) in due time. I had a friend here that had a real nice looking 69 Camaro that was eaten away because he never kept it inside and he lived very close to the gulf. So folks, just because a car is located in Florida doesn't mean it's as clean as a whistle. Bill
