  • Durham, NC Studebaker Dealer Explodes, Burns...In Progress

An apparent gas leak led to an explosion in downtown Durham, NC this morning, destroying an historic Studebaker dealership building. The subsequent fire is still burning. Here is a link to the local coverage.

Coincidentally, there was a Porsche collection housed in the building next door. At least some of the cars have been damaged.

It does appear to have been Henry's Motor Sales.

Here's the local coverage that made the internet.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — A leaking gas line exploded Wednesday in a Durham shopping district, killing one person and injuring more than a dozen others as firefighters were evacuating people from buildings near the rupture, authorities said.

What a shame. I have never gotten to check the building out in person. Sad that there were so many casualties.

A man I work with spent some time in Durham and worked around the corner from there.
