For what it is worth, I agree with Matthew on this.Originally posted by mbstude View PostI think that style jack was only used on ‘58 Packards. Something to do with a standard bumper jack not being compatible with the front bumper and fiberglass front end?Gary L.

Ask a Man who owns one....
When I first bought mine I wondered what that odd 'bracket' up front was for.
Several months after I brought the car home- I got an envelope from the prior owner.
It contained all the paperwork he and his Father (the original owner) had on the car.
One item was a copy of this 'manual' showing proper use of the jack.
Look close- the bracket mentioned is there~

I am missing whatever the piece is, that holds the jack tight inside the Trunk on the Driver Side on the 58 Packard Hawk, anyone have a Pic or part # handy ?
The Threaded, Square Shouldered Bolt is there and through the Bracket, but No mounting Hardware.

I have a 1961 Hawk and have owned it since 1978. The jack was in the trunk and is the bumper (slip and break your leg) type. I have repainted it and store it properly but carry a frame hydraulic jack . Having said that, and hoping Matt is reading this …if someone were to reproduce the jacking instructions for my car I would gladly pay a good price for that paper. I'm a bit of a purist, and the more I can acquire the happier I am.
