  • Delco Part number (POINTS) ??

Anybody have the Delco part number for the Commander 6 engine ?? Stude part # 526985

  • #2
That looks up to be a one off, 1950 . I only keep one of those in stock. I don't have cross over part numbers, just the parts.

You might try johnstones page if you just want to go to FLAPS to get one local..

A '63 Standard parts book indicates that the '51-59 V8 style points can be used.
        American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker

Yes it interchanges with 1939 GMC Truck, 1938 Mack Truck, 1937-42 Olds and Pontiac Six, 1937-'38 Packard, and does fit 1950 Studebaker Commander "245" 6 Cyl.

Studebaker Part number 526985 is Delco Part Number 1871678, Original NOS, USA Delco's ARE a bit hard to find, I have 2 Sets for $30.00

Those are the '51 to '59 & '60-'61 Hawk V8, Early Delco Points. They are a NO Fit in a Six.
No one asked for a NAPA (Echlin) Number.

I installed the the NAPA #CS777A points in the 53' 2R6 truck last night and it started right up and the surfaces aligned perfectly.

                    That IS just weird!
I am pretty sure Studebaker would not list, buy, stock and sell 526985 for Commander Sixes, and then Use 1544167 for '51 to '59 V8's and '60-'61 Hawks unless there was SOME difference!

They all came from Delco Remy Division of GM in Indiana, so it is not just a different Supplier.

And 81 years after release of the 526985 (Delco 1871678) NAPA has One that fits them both?
I have been buying NAPA/Echlin CS777A for 58 Years, but always for my Stude. V8's.
