  • In Search Of: Oil Flex Hose for 2R5

I'm in search of the flex hose for the oil pressure line on a '51 2R5 truck. This hose has a two-hole bracket that attaches to the head bolts. I'm told that the part# is 515712, but I can't verify that. Does anyone know if the more common 532339 ('39-63 Champion, without the bracket) will work as a substitute?

Try this link. Jim Turner makes them brand new. Don't take a chance with a brittle cracked NOS line that has been sitting who knows where for years.

          2R5,
That looks like the hose that was on the engine. Since this hose is for a "resurrection" rather than a "restoration" application, instead of using an NOS hose, I was trying to determine if the 532339 ('39-63 Champion, without the bracket) would fit up. These are readily available, and I believe, new reproduction hoses.

          StudeRich,
My original post was asking the question as to whether 532339 hose could be substituted for the 515712 hose. Maybe that should be in "Tech Talk"?

Yes, we have sold several 532339 Fresh, New, Reproduction Oil Pressure Gauge Hoses, for Champion Engines without the "Special Bracket" and they work just fine.

Rerun- I used one without the bracket on a Champion engine some years ago, and it worked but I had to secure the hard line to the block somehow (I don't remember how) so engine vibration wouldn't loosen any fittings.
